EYFS and KS1 Geography - helping younger viewers recognise the world around them.

Join Bertie and Book on their adventure around Bertie's home town. Bertie takes the opportunity to explore his local environment and to learn that there is a big, interesting word to discover. Where I live focuses on encouraging children to play in and explore their own, local environments. Bertie can be reluctant to change the patterns of his day but when needs must, Book steps up and turns his worries into smiles and he is encouraged to be brave and go on an adventure.

Learning Opportunities include:
-Use a wider range of vocabulary, including questions or instructions.
-Become more outgoing with unfamiliar people, in and out of the safe context of their setting.
-Encouraging children to show more confidence in new social situations.
-Encouraging children to talk about members of their immediate family and community.
-Read and draw information from a simple map.
-Describe what they see, hear and feel whilst exploring outside.
-Recognise some environments that are different from the one in which they live.
